Inside The Scott Resort & Spa: A chic boutique hotel in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale

Travel stress recently got the best of me (it happens!) but all of that was immediately alleviated once I got to explore my adorable hotel.

While traveling from Los Angeles to Phoenix for the 2024 AT&T WNBA All-Star festivities, I – like many travelers heading out of town July 19-20 – found myself stuck in the airport for several hours due to flight delays and cancellations caused by what was reported as “the largest global IT outage in history.

When I finally arrived to Phoenix I was feeling mentally and physically exhausted from spending that much time at the airport (if you’ve ever been to LAX, you know how overwhelming and chaotic it can be, even on a seemingly smooth day 😂). I was also quite bummed that my trip was cut so short and I would now only be there for less than 24 hours.

However, as soon as my Uber pulled up to where I was staying – The Scott Resort & Spa located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale – everything started to take a more positive turn. I told myself that I was going to make the most of the time I did have in town.

Before I even walked inside the hotel I was already impressed with the chic decor, which included lots of greenery and exterior lighting.

And parked right near the drop-off area was a gorgeous turquoise-and-white 1956

Chevrolet Bel Air, which guests can actually cruise around town in, weather permitting.

I didn’t have enough time to explore that luxury – but don’t think I didn’t leave without snapping some photos in front of it! I put on a black maxi dress and sunnies and felt like a movie star posing next to the vintage car with a row of palm trees serving as the backdrop.

Inside the hotel, everything was just as classy and cute, with decor inspired by Bauhaus and old Havana. When I checked in they gave me a room key and car holder (pictured at the top of this post), which was designed to look like a travel passport – complete with a stamp upon arrival and all!

I was also intrigued by the artwork behind the check-in desk, featuring plenty of custom portraits that the receptionist told me were hand-picked by the owner.

A similar painting was hung up in the bathroom of my hotel room (pictured below), which also included a balcony area with chairs for reading/relaxing and a modern coffee station – both of which I 100% took advantage of during my stay.

“High contrast color blocking, rattan touches and soft-rounded corners are a nod to historic Havana in these warm and Bauhausian guestrooms,” the AvroKO Design website says of the island-inspired rooms. “Custom wood furniture and brass accents elevate the experience while textured walls and a soft material palette create an island ambiance.”

Meanwhile, the site states that “color blocking and textured walls make the bathroom feel like a true Havana residence,” which I couldn’t agree with more. It was such a cozy and cool vibe with earthy tones that continued into the bedroom area.

One of my favorite spots to check out inside the entire resort, however, was the Canal Club bar, located just past the lobby before heading outside to the luxe pools. I love me a good iced coffee and asked the bartender to make me one of their most popular, signature drinks: a Spanish latte. Verdict? Made to perfection (I’m still thinking about it tbh).

I also tried some of the food while relaxing poolside before heading to the airport on my last day. The ceviche (featuring shrimp, lime and cucumber pico de gallo served with plantain chips) was absolutely delicious with my Shirley Temple.

Albeit short, I throughly enjoyed my stay at The Scott and have been telling all of my LA friends how fun it would be to get a group together and return for an extended mini getaway sometime.

Next visit I would love to check out their spa & wellness area and treat myself to one of their massage packages – ranging from a 75-minute Havana Herbal Salt Stone Massage to a luxurious La Vidorra Body Glow.
