Tucked away just an hour from Guanacaste International Airport lies Rio Perdido, a hidden gem promising adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty.

Accommodations: The eco-luxury bungalows at Rio Perdido blended seamlessly with nature. From the hammock of my East Bungalow's elevated terrace, I could watch monkeys play, a serene reminder of the resort's dedication to conservation.

Dining: Every meal at Rio Perdido celebrated Costa Rican flavors with fresh, local

ingredients. Dining in the open-air restaurant not only offered delicious food but also stunning views of the surrounding beauty. Complimentary breakfast with options like fresh juice, French toast, and omelets was the perfect start to each day.

  • Ziplines and Adventure: For adventure enthusiasts like me, the zipline course is a must. The carbon fiber ziplines are situated high above the Rio Blanco canyon adding stunning views along the journey. The course also features a Tarzan Swing, Challenge Bridge, and 4 Via Ferratas, adding a little variety and difficulty.

  • Hiking: There are numerous hiking trails around the grounds that are well marked, but if you prefer, the resort also offers daily guided walks. One of my favorite hikes was the sunset hike, offering panoramic views of three volcanoes under skies painted in shades of orange and pink.

  • Thermal River and Pools: After days filled with adventure, the thermal river and mineral-rich hot springs stretching over a mile provided the perfect sanctuary to unwind. If the hike to the thermal river feels too strenuous, natural fed thermal mineral pools ranging in temperature from hot to cool are located by the main building, complete with a swim-up bar, offering treats like my favorite Patacones with fresh guacamole—pure bliss while poolside.

  • Mountain Biking: For those seeking more adrenaline, mountain biking trails can be found around Rio Perdido, offering thrilling rides through Costa Rica's lush landscapes.

  • Yoga and Spa: Starting the day with morning yoga in the open-air pavilions amidst the jungle canopy is so refreshing. Plus, the spa offers amazing massages and treatments—just what you need to relax after a day of adventures.

Have you been to Rio Perdido? We'd love to hear your favorite things about staying here!
